Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug treatment center as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related crime that has led the court to think the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the court it is strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug treatment program that is ordered for them. New offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
