Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation center due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This can occur for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense that has led a legal court to believe the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the judge it really is wise that the individual try everything they are able to to benefit from this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do experience rehab instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
