DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
