DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use.
