DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
