Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment program because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for instance if someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to think the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered through the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to get the most from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in treatment and completes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program that is ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that experience treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences.
