DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
