DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
