DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
