DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
