DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
