DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
