DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
