DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
