DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
