Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the judge it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug treatment facility which has been ordered for them. New offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that experience rehab in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
