DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
