DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
