DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
