DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
