DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
