DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
