DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
