DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
