DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
