Native American and Alaska Native people are apt to have significantly increased rates of substance abuse then other racial backgrounds. Native Americans and Alaska Natives can either receive treatment within a traditional drug rehabilitation center if rehabilitation is provided in their own language, or take advantage of center which was developed solely to take care of these clients in their language exclusively. Drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs that provide rehabilitation in Native American or Alaska Native Languages offer either a standard approach including rehab plans based off of the 12-step method, or there are drug and alcohol rehab facilities with rehab programs in their language which provide a more holistic and alternative approach. Since many areas of the Native American and Alaska Native cultures concentrate on holistic healing and so on, these clients can greatly make use of an alternate alcohol and drug rehab center which includes these elements of their culture in to a comprehensive rehabilitation plan in their language. Native Americans and Alaska Natives who need rehabilitation and would like to take advantage of a rehab setting conducive to their traditional healing procedures may even take part in treatment services at many centers and drug and alcohol treatment programs which strive to provide a serene setting.
