DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
