DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
