DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
