DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future.
