DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
