DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
