DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence later on.
