Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program because of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related crime that has led the judge to believe the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it is wise that the individual do everything they're able to to benefit from this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab program which was ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who do take part in treatment in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
