DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
