Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of drug treatment center due to alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for instance if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered from the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol treatment center which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to jail time or similar consequences. In the end, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
