DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
