DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
