Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for instance if a person is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense which has led the court to think that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the court it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to make the most of this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol treatment center which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that experience rehab instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
