DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
