Outpatient treatment gives treatment clients the ability to maintain certain responsibilities and aspects of their way of life while getting involved in drug rehabilitation services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate degree of treatment, and should not be mistaken for the degree of rehab offered within an inpatient or residential treatment program which can be much more extensive. Outpatient treatment could be well suited for a person who has a short history of drug or alcohol use for example, but will most definitely not be adequate for somebody whose rehab needs go beyond what outpatient treatment is able to provide.
