DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
