Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or for any other type of drug related crime which has led the judge to think that the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual try everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab facility which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who take part in treatment in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
