DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
