DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
