DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
