DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
