DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
