Ozark - Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis can be a circumstance whereby two independent disorders exist, and most often denotes a co-occurring drug abuse and mental health disorder. A dual diagnosis can help a person that might not have been capable of being helped before, put an end to substance abuse by being correctly diagnosed and helped. Their mental health disorder may have been misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, or treated incorrectly which could have prompted and led to their substance abuse issues. Establishing the truth that someone is in fact a dual diagnosis client not simply helps establish a highly effective treatment course for them, but may also help clients better understand what led to their drug abuse and ways to prevent it in the future. Addressing dual diagnosis can be a more extensive process when compared to a typical drug rehab program, and individuals who have a dual diagnosis may need to participate in a substantial aftercare program which can include proper medical support in addition to further rehabilitation services. Being identified as having co-occurring disorders doesn't signify the person will need to be medicated through out their lives either, and actually lots of people with a dual diagnosis experience much better results when treated holistically and when alternative treatment methods are utilized.
