DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
